Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund

The Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund's mission is to build
sustainable communities by assisting people to assert their right to local
self-government and the rights of nature.  The Legal Defense Fund has
assisted over 120 communities across the U.S. to draft and adopt laws that
stop corporate threats such as natural gas drilling and fracking, factory
farming, and water privatization, while addressing corporate claims of
constitutional protections, state preemption of local decision making, and
the structure of law which treats nature as property. 

David Suzuki Foundation

The David Suzuki Foundation works in Canada with government, business, and individuals to conserve our environment by providing science-based education, advocacy and policy work, and acting as a catalyst for the social change that today's situation demands. Eco Centre Wales

Eco Centre Wales seeks to reduce society’s impact on the environment, in particular its contribution to global warming and unnecessary climate change. This is only possible by taking steps to reduce demand on the environment, due to  energy use, and making changes to the way society lives so that it reduces its reliance on fossil fuel based energy. The four main planks of the Eco Centre's work are: energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental education and fuel poverty. In each of these areas the organisation works with government, statutory authorities, schools, communities and other third sector bodies to deliver its objectives. The audience for this work ranges from school-age children, teachers, householders, community groups, planners, housing officers and other local authority staff, installers, utility companies, health boards and government.

For over 30 years now, the Ernst Friedrich Schumacher Society in Germany has been using its best efforts to analyze the future ecological, social and economic challenges to be met by society and to indicate innovative approaches to ensuring sustainable development in all areas. This takes place by means of monthly lectures and discussions with recognized speakers, an info letter titled "Small is Beautiful," and the organization of eco-educational trips to experience nature throughout thinly populated regions, national parks and biosphere reserves within Europe.

Grown out of the writings of Michael Shuman, Small-Mart is an initiative of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE). The Small-Mart Revolution aims to improve the prosperity of every community, in the U.S. and abroad, by maximizing local self-reliance and opportunities for locally owned businesses.
