EconoUs2018 is focussed on PEOPLE, PLANET, ECONOMY, to highlight how the social, environmental and economic issues we face are intertwined and require multifaceted solutions in order to create an economy that works for all. From September 24 to 26, Moncton will host 300+ social innovation leaders from Canada and around the world, who will gather to learn about and share strategies for generating inclusive communities, sustainable environments, and local prosperity.
Some program highlights include:
· Keynote speaker Tony Armstrong, who will share his experience building powerful and ambitious communities in the UK through a ‘Local by Default’ approach to public services, community ownership of assets, neighbourhood planning and a Localism Commission.
· A plenary panel featuring city councillors from Hamilton (ON), Preston (UK), and Montreal (QC), who will discuss how they’re approaching current challenges and developing promising strategies to build community wealth.
· Sessions on a wide variety of subjects such as local area plans, community benefit agreements, social procurement, social enterprise development, revitalizing rural communities, community finance, and so much more!
EconoUs2018 is organized in partnership with the Canadian CED Network, the New Brunswick Environmental Network, the Social Enterprise Network of Nova Scotia, the Co-operative Enterprise Council of New Brunswick, the Centre for Local Prosperity, the Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia, and the Coopérative de développement regional-Acadie.
