This event is being offered by the Eastern Economic Association at their annual conference, on the day before the conference sessions begin. You may attend this training seminar without registering for the conference. Or, if you are coming to the EEA conference, you may attend this event and not miss out on any other events at the conference (which will all occur after this training seminar is over).

Never before in the history of economics in the United States has there been a training seminar of this magnitude on the extremely important topic of ethics, scientific integrity, and responsible leadership in economics.

The seminar is being taught by Distinguished Professors George DeMartino and Deirdre McCloskey, authors of the Oxford Handbook of Professional Economic Ethics, with presentations by Erica Groshen, Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics; Keith Hall, Director of the Congressional Budget Office; and Brian Moyer, Director of Bureau of Economic Analysis. The keynote luncheon speaker will be Professor William Easterly who will discuss his new book, The Tyranny of Experts. Also speaking will be Amelie Constant (IZA), Samuel Otoo (World Bank), W. Charles Sawyer (Texas Christian University), and Benjamin Simon (Dept. of the Interior).

Join us for this historic experience, with presentations by world-renowned experts and leaders of some of the Nation’s most important economic institutions, and in doing so, acquire a certification of expertise on the professional ethics for economists. Not only will the seminar provide a wide range of insightful presentations, but will engage the audience in provocative, interactive discussions. If there is any training in economics that you should take this year, then this is it!
