On our 5th birthday at We Fund Us: Five Years Since the Uprisings, we made a wish to regrant our millionth dollar this year. And we are pleased to announce that this wish has become true.
For this open cycle, we awarded 35 organizations with a total of $175,000. This number looks lower than most years because we decided to allocate a portion of open cycle funding to provide previous grantees with multi-year funding.

Afiya Care Collective
Afiya Care Collective is rooted in community-based knowledge production, collective decision-making, and shared ownership rather than extractive service delivery models. Funding will directly support our community-engaged research, relationship cultivation with grassroots and organizational partners, and administrative capacity required to sustain our leadership as Black women in healthcare.
Pecan Milk | Black and Southern Solidarity Economy Organizing Program
Pecan Milk is an 11-year-old Black co-op based in the Deep South. The co-op’s mission is to make “dignified work” for marginalized communities in the South. Their project is to map and coordinate Black co-ops everywhere and Southern co-ops, bring folks together, especially into a People’s Movement Assembly process, and come out with a strategic plan for Black and Southern solidarity economy organizations.
Black Butterfly Women Services Housing Stability Fund
BlackButterfly Women Services (BBWS) is here for women—especially Black and justice-involved women—who are stepping back into their communities after incarceration. They provide safe, supportive housing and trauma-informed care, helping women find stability, rebuild their lives, and take their first steps toward independence.
Sumi’s Touch | Black Midwives Fellowship
The Black midwives fellowship intends to positively contribute in the global effort to optimize the outcomes for infant and maternal health. Simply put, we are committed to making giving birth and being born safer.
Brother(hood) Dance!
In Columbus, Ohio, and the Appalachian-influenced landscapes of central Ohio, Brother(hood) Dance! activates arts, ecology, and economy in tandem. Their mission is to be the most transformative force in the arts, uniting dance, agricultural heritage, and technology to challenge norms, educate communities, and inspire movements of empowerment and sustainability.
Bloom Upstate | Academy of Learners
Bloom Upstate’s mission is to empower and support girls and their families through mentorship, resources, and transformative programs that build stability, nurture confidence, and create pathways to lifelong success.
C.R.E.A.M (Community Rules Everything Around Me)
C.R.E.A.M (Community Rules Everything Around Me) is a hyperlocal time-based barter network that will allow Black artists and cultural workers in my communities to share the expertise and resources that we already have with each other for free.99. In the most simple terms, C.R.E.A.M is a time bank.
Colectiva Feminista en Construcción
La Colectiva Feminista en Construcción is a grassroots Black feminist Puerto Rican organization led by Black queer women, following a long radical tradition of feminist, antiracist, anti-colonialist, and LGBTTIQ+ struggle, resisting structural oppression and violence while achieving system change.
West Georgia Farmers Cooperative | Community Food Nation
The Community Food Nation project by West Georgia Farmers Cooperative will transform a closed community elementary school property into a hyper-local food center.
Craft Well: People’s School of Folk, Craft and Building Arts ( Craft Well)
Craft Well is striving to provide a space for Black and Brown women, queer and trans folks to gain exposure and training in the building trades, traditional crafts, and to ground these skills within ongoing political education to build a just future.
Dorchester Art Project
Dorchester Art Project is not just a cooperative; it’s a movement driven by the belief in the transformative power of art, community, and cooperative values. Their mission is to fortify an equitable creative ecosystem by democratizing access to the means for creation as a strategy for cultural retention, preservation, and liberation.
Esther Manor Farm
Esther Manor Farm is a community-rooted land stewardship project dedicated to growing African heritage crops and reclaiming traditional knowledge systems. Their mission is to restore cultural foodways, promote food justice, and build a solidarity economy through food within Black and African diaspora communities.
The Black Excellence Collective | Freedom Beyond ICE: A TGNC Sanctuary Campaign
The Black Excellence Collective is a Black trans and queer-led organizing hub building a world rooted in collective care, economic justice, and liberation for all Black people. Through creative organizing, mutual aid, and political education, we cultivate the leadership of directly impacted communities to confront systems of state violence and create models of self-determined safety.
Game Changing Men
Game Changing Men (GCM) is a Black-led nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, dedicated to advancing health equity, community healing, and systems transformation through leadership development, mentoring, and grassroots engagement. GCM centers the lived experiences of Black transmasculine and intersex men and boys, working to build safer, more inclusive communities by addressing violence, stigma, and inequity through education, mentorship, and collective action.

Collective Diaspora’s global Black solidarity economy newsletter is a bi-monthly electronic newsletter that covers the latest news, events, and resources related to the solidarity economy across the African diaspora. Collective Diaspora’s mission is to build regenerative economies grounded in racial and gender equity through the development and growth of Black cooperatives around the world.
Survival Bloc | Grandmother’s Garden
Survival Bloc is a national, BIPOC-led climate survival network building power and community alternatives to survive the climate crisis. With a growing network of over 30+ movement groups, grassroots organizations, and leaders, we create the movement infrastructure to organize “survival programs”, organizing and resiliency trainings, and forge together strategies for shutting down the fossil fuel industry.

Grow Moore Produce Cooperative
Grow Moore Produce Cooperative empowers BIPOC farmers through shared resources, education, and collective marketing. Currently uniting 12 Black-owned farms across the city of Detroit, we work to strengthen local food systems, promote food sovereignty, and ensure communities have equitable access to fresh, sustainably grown produce.
Heritage Farm Restoration Initiative
The Heritage Farm Restoration Initiative is a land-based solution to food apartheid in historic Gullah Geechee communities. Through the initiative we partner with land owners to transform underutilized or idle land and bring these areas back into production by planting culturally relevant crops, healing herbs, fruit trees, and flowers.
Home Grown Maroons
The Home Grown Maroons Initiative (HGMI) addresses food insecurity, systemic inequities in agriculture, and the challenges faced by individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. Many African-centered communities struggle with access to healthy, affordable food and sustainable gardening/farming and food opportunities due to historical discrimination and racism.
iLOGIC Red Clay Collective, LLC
iLOGIC @ Solomon’s Garden Land Stewardship Cooperative is a group-owned and operated Land Stewardship training facility and retreat space located in Eutaw, Alabama. Their land-based training program offers new and aspiring Black land stewards the opportunity to learn holistic ways of engaging with the land and community through community education and political context.
Muse 360
Founded in 2004, Muse 360 is a Black-led and founded, youth-centered, intergenerational organization with a mission to radically develop young people to use their voices and creative talents in pursuit of self-knowledge and collective transformation.
Mutual Aid Hartford
Mutual Aid Hartford is a responsive community network. Their work furthers alignment in the social movement ecosystem through education, social care, and the stewardship of third spaces. Their work has transformed, but their mission remains: building community power through person-to-person care and connection.
Oaxxanda Cooperative
Oaxxanda Cooperative is a Black-led, intergenerational collective reclaiming land as a source of healing, housing, and legacy. Their mission is to root Black and Indigenous Bay Area families by demonstrating how creatives and community members can pool resources to build stability through cooperative land ownership.
Odinga Land
Odinga Land is in its construction phase on a 1/2 acre of land purchased in Belize. It is a healing community-space for Movement veterans, former PPOWS, activists/organizers, and spiritual healers.
People’s Programs Grocery Program
People’s Programs is a Black/New Afrikan, Oakland-based organization dedicated to the positive development and overall liberation of their community through decolonization programs that meet people’s basic needs while building self-reliance.
PUSH Louisville Tenant Union
PUSH Louisville is a multi-racial, multi-generational tenant union of working-class people organizing to support and establish community-controlled, permanently affordable housing and tenant-led housing policies.
Return To The Source
Return to the Source (RTS) is a Black-led organization rooted in the traditions of Black radicalism and collective liberation. We are dedicated to building collective power through political education, organizing, and capacity building. While their work is deeply rooted in organizing Black and working-class communities across Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the Gullah Geechee corridor, we are equally committed to fostering international solidarity with global movements fighting capitalism, imperialism, and exploitation.
Rooted in Color | Therapeutic Family Nature Series
Rooted in Color uses nature-based speech therapy integrating outdoor environments, like parks and gardens, to enhance communication and sensory development. They offer a sliding scale that allows families to pay based on their income, making therapy more accessible to low- and middle-income households.
S&D PJ Housing
At S&D PJ Housing, their mission is singular and resolute: to transform lives, one woman at a time. We’re dedicated to empowering women transitioning from incarceration by offering safe housing, comprehensive educational resources, and impactful community initiatives. Each of their programs are meticulously crafted to nurture growth, provide unwavering support, and facilitate successful reintegration into their communities.

Cooperation Crenshaw is developing a community-owned bakery/cafe cooperative that centers shared ownership, local economic empowerment, and community engagement.
The “Raised by Russell” Library Re-engagement & Political Education Project
The Esther Cooper-Jackson Book Study (ECJBS) is a dynamic hub for political education, a vital nexus for left-leaning political organizations, progressive social movements, and the vibrant tapestry of the Black working class and individuals of color. Built upon cooperative principles and collective ownership, their unwavering commitment to critical analysis forms the backbone of this hub, recognizing that the strength of movements lies in the profound wellsprings of historical knowledge, robust theory, and meticulous analysis.
Nurturing Roots | The Flavor Box
Nurturing Roots is a Black-led anchor organization advancing Black liberation and food sovereignty through anti-capitalist urban agriculture and grassroots organizing. Their work is grounded in a vision of a world free from capitalism. We operate as a site of healing justice and resistance that actively centers the leadership of Black American and African immigrant communities most impacted by displacement and food apartheid in South Seattle.
The Ujima Collective
The Ujima Collective is a Black-led and run organization dedicated to advancing Black self-determination, safety, healing, and justice. Rooted in the Swahili principle of Ujima – collective work and responsibility – their mission is to create Black-led solutions that foster safety, healing, and thriving communities.
