OUR WORK & PROGRAMS
BLACK SOLIDARITY ECONOMY
We support Black leadership in the solidarity economy movement through funding opportunities, relationship building, and storytelling.
BLACK SOLIDARITY ECONOMY FUND
Since 2020, the Black Solidarity Economy Fund (BSEF) has democratically distributed over $975,000 to Black-led solidarity economy organizing.
Moved by the 2020 popular uprisings, several dozen Black staff and leaders from our network came together to organize the fund, with the goal of redistributing resources to Black-led organizations building the solidarity economy. The fund is anchored by the BSEF Working Group which collectively makes all major decisions related to the fund.

BLACK RADICAL DEMOCRACY WORKING GROUP

In July 2024, the Black Solidarity Economy Fund (BSEF) gathered in Durham, NC for the first ever Black Radical Democracy Convening! Over 40 people representing 25 orgs attended and were joined by movement elders with over 50 years in the Black liberation struggle. From the convening, NEC members and grantees decided to start a space for Black folks within the network to convene, collaborate, celebrate, and resource Black leadership within the Solidarity Economy movement.
