New Economy Coalition is excited to announce the newest additions to our staff: Kelly Baker as Development Director and Umeme Houston as CommonBound Coordinator. We’re also thrilled to share that our own Shavaun Evans has stepped into a new role as Membership Director!
Kelly joins NEC having spent most of her career securing resources for the non-profit sector in Greater Boston. Before joining the NEC team, she worked in development and communications at ZUMIX, Sociedad Latina, and Science Club for Girls. Kelly graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor's in Political Science.Kelly is particularly interested in the transformative role that philanthropy and wealth redistribution will play in the New Economy.
Umeme, a creative visionary, textile artist, and entrepreneur, was born, raised, and currently resides in St. Louis, MO. She is deeply rooted in creating systemic change in her community through art and a new economy practice. Umeme has earned degrees in accounting and general transfer studies. She has been trained by Highlander Economics and Governance and University of Missouri Extension Neighborhood Leadership Academy
Shavaun Evans has been with NEC for nearly two years as membership coordinator—building on a decade of coalition-building experience—and has played a key role in growing our network into new sectors and geographic regions.
