We’re slowing things down at NEC for the month of August!
As part of our ongoing work to build an organizational culture of rest and collective care, our offices will be closed from August 8-19. We’re also taking this week and the week of August 22-26 as “slowdown weeks” to focus on strategic conversations, capacity analysis, and thoughtful preparation for the end of the year.
We are very grateful to be able to live into our values and take this time off – we thank organizations like NEC member NASCO, Groundswell Fund, and Scalawag for modeling this kind of intentional break. We lift up the work of Black feminists and disabled organizers who continuously remind us that slowing down to the pace of rest, care, access, and trust is a key practice for collective liberation.
During this time we’ll be pausing:
- External meetings
- All public facing communications and social media
- The New Economy Roundup newsletter
- Our monthly all-member call and member update newsletter
- Most working group communications
In general, we will be slower to respond to external communications and we appreciate your patience in hearing back from us. While we’re away, you can check out our member directory to learn about the incredible solidarity economy organizations in our network, and catch up on the New Economy Roundup archives!
Wishing everyone lots of rest, care, and joy this summer <3
With gratitude,
The staff at NEC
