Creating CommonBound 2016 Together

Dec 18, 2015 | News & Updates

Our work at NEC is based on the idea that our efforts to build a New Economy are most successful when we work collaboratively, building power across sectors and movements.

As you may know, we recently announced that our next major conference, CommonBound 2016 will take place July 8-11 in Buffalo, NY.

We see CommonBound as an important moment in the journey to come together and build trust, alignment, and collective power — and we hope you’ll join us there next summer.

In order for CommonBound to reach its potential, it’s going to take a collective effort. This year, we’re excited to invite you to play a central role in co-creating this conference by submitting proposals for Workshop Tracks and Network Gatherings.*

Network Gatherings are day-long gatherings proposed and organized by volunteers who want to bring a group of 20-100 people together to increase the capacity of our movements. For example, you might propose a day-long training, a strategic summit, a bridge building session between folks from two sectors/movements, or a mini-retreat. For more info or to propose a network gathering click here.

Workshop Tracks will be central to the conference. Each track will be curated by a volunteer committee and framed around a challenge or opportunity standing between us and a just, sustainable, and democratic economy. For more info or to propose a workshop track click here.

Please note, we are not yet accepting proposals for individual workshops.

The deadline to propose a track or network gathering is January 12, 2016 at 11:59PM EST.

We will host a webinar to walk through the application process and answer questions on January 5th at 3PM EST. Stay tuned for more information, and don’t hesitate to contact us in the meantime if you have any questions, feedback, or just want to bounce a couple of ideas off us.

Looking forward to seeing what we can create together in Buffalo this summer and in this network going forward!

*This network gathering and track model is inspired by the Allied Media Conference. We are excited to bring these structures from AMC to CommonBound, in addition to other innovations that will build an inclusive and decentralized culture at the conference and beyond.
